ANAND NEW FIDE WORLD CHAMPION
Vihy Anand's victory in the FIDE World Championship in New Delhi and Teheran got India into raptures. President Narayanan received him in his residence, a jubilant crowd welcomed Anand as he was paraded through the streets of his native Chennai, and among the congratulations pouring in were the wishes of the new Miss World. Arvind Aaron reports on a new high in his countryman's career, Anand annotates his three wins against Alexey Shirov, and Dirk Jan ten Geuzendam spoke to the new champion: "The chess world has broken into two and there is not much I can do about it."
