18...f5!? in So-Gupta, Wijk aan Zee 2009 (Yearbook 91, Survey Laszlo
Hazai/Peter Lukacs, page 110). A fantastic piece sacrifice for
a strong attack in the Marshall Attack by the young Indian
grandmaster, which opens new roads for Black in the topical
15.Qe2 line.

17.Qh6!? in Kramnik-Naiditsch, Dortmund 2009
(Yearbook 93, Survey Laszlo Hazai/Peter Lukacs, page 184). A typical Kramnikian
refinement in the sharp Vienna Gambit of the
Nimzo-Indian. Leko had already played the move, but only
Kramnik knew the right idea behind it!

12...0-0-0 with the idea 13...Nc5! in Avrukh-Hector, Helsingor 2009 (Yearbook
93, Survey Larry Kaufman, page 148). A bombshell in
what seemed to be a line in the Krause Slav where White
had a solid plus. Black's pawn sac gives him excellent
play.

24...Qf3! in Van Wely-Stellwagen, Amsterdam 2009 (Yearbook 93, Forum item
Mikhail Golubev, page 11). An improvement in the
Bayonet Attack of the King's Indian. Expert Van Wely had
beaten Radjabov here, but Stellwagen came up with a blow
even computers had failed to see.
