The New in Chess Yearbook staff presents you with a personal touch to opening theory.
From their own experience Tibor Karolyi, Nenad Sulava and Dorian Rogozenko are all telling you the same: White is OK!
PHILIDOR DEFENCE
Tibor Karolyi examines Nisipeanu's novelty &S 7...d5 8.Ndb5 c6!?!. He is full of praise for this daring idea, but his analysis pinpoints a highly sensitive spot. After 15.Qd2! White is very OK!
QUEEN'S GAMBIT DECLINED
Nenad Sulava takes on the adventurous 7...Bd6/8...Nf6 line, both in a game against Fressinet and in a NIC-Survey. His conclusion that '9.Ne5! is a real hammer blow to Black's position' sounds extremely OK for White!
SLAV DEFENCE
Dorian Rogozenko beat Shirov in the German Bundesliga and now wonders why so few people treat the 5...Na6 variation in the Slav Accepted the way he did. White is definitely more OK than Black!
