The New in Chess Group buys a minority stake in Forward Chess

After the merger between Quality Chess, Everyman Chess (Now Popular Chess), and New in Chess, the landscape of chess publishing has changed. The goals of the merger have been to learn from each other while maintaining separate identities and keeping the diversity of books released intact.

We want our content to be available in whatever format readers wish to access it. Our books will be available in paperback and hardback, on Kindle, at Chessable, Chesstempo, and Forward Chess. In the search for efficiency as a path to longevity for our companies, we decided to partner with Forward Chess, purchasing a minority share.

This has three practical effects.

  1. The New in Chess App will close at the end of this year. Customers who have purchased the magazine and books on the New in Chess App in the past will still have access to the books on Forward Chess. We are in the process of converting 52 New in Chess books that were on the App but not on Forward Chess.
  2. The highly competent New in Chess staff behind the New in Chess App will share their experience and competencies with the amazing Forward Chess team. The two apps offered similar user experiences, which is why it makes little sense for small publishers to support two development teams.
  3. Forward Chess's management will remain unchanged and independent from the New in Chess Group. The New in Chess Group has sought no advantages over competitors and will not influence Forward Chess's daily operations or have access to information on competitors.

This partnership will strengthen Forward Chess and the New in Chess Group, allowing us and our rivals to focus on providing strong content.

The New in Chess Group

What about the Yearbooks, specifically the New In Chess Yearbook app? At the moment I can still log in and access all the yearbooks I bought as part of the special deal that was offered when yearbook publication was discontinued. Should I now download all the yearbooks I bought and can I then keep using the New in Chess Yearbook app offline to access them on my local storage medium?

Hi,
I wanted to create my account at Forward Chess, but unfortunately made a mistake while lndicating my e-mail address. They answered that they have sent me an e-mail message, what of course is not possuble with the wrong address. How to solve this situation? Thanks for your help, Norbert Stull

Hi, when will they import over the New In Chess books from their app to be converted to ForwardChess? I have a few books that are on the New in Chess app, but they don't show up well with Stockfish on an Android phone. I've never had these issues with ForwardChess books.

Is Forward Chess available for Mac computers? I use both and I liked very much NewinChess app with Rebel style diagrams. I hope Forward Chess is available for Mac.

This seems like a good move to simplify access to content. I have purchased e-books from both New In Chess and Forward Chess. Two questions about e-book access across platforms:

1. Will I be able to access *all* my e-books through the Forward Chess app if it's linked to my email address?

2. What happens if my New In Chess and Forward Chess accounts are linked to different email addresses (for example, Name@yahoo.com for one platform and Name@gmail.com for the other)?
Thank you.

I am pleased that I will be able to access my New in Chess items on Forward Chess. Keep consolidating and improving Forward Chess, long an excellent app. I am trying to remember. I think it was John Watson who recommended FC as the first book reading site that incorporated an engine for assistance while reading chess books. Now, of course, every site seems to have engines as kibitzers…

Hello. I have two questions: 1. When will the switch to Forward Chess be possible? 2. I already have a Forward Chess account. Will the NIC books be automatically integrated into it? Best regards, Torsten
