Reviews
IM John Watson (Chess Life magazine)
“As a chess teacher, I used my own sets of tactical exercises collected over the years, but I would definitely have improved my lessons with books such as these two. The systematic focus upon practical patterns one sees consistently over-the-board reduces the number of gaps in the student’s knowledge and undoubtedly speeds their improvement.”
Nick Visel (nickplayschess.com)
"What makes 100TPYMK stand out from the myriad other tactics books is its extensive focus on explaining the tactic, and Erwich’s near-prescient anticipation of likely questions to which he preemptively provides answers. Another really nice touch is that Erwich goes out of his way to connect the patterns as the reader goes through."

Stjepan Tomić (chessreads.com)
“100 important tactical themes explained in a beginner-friendly way, but useful for players of any rating. Most importantly, it helps the reader build a library of patterns essential for tournament play. It’s accompanied by a Workbook, which you should use to reinforce what the book teaches. They aren’t necessarily meant to be read and solved together, but I think doing so would increase the value you get out of each book.”

Stephen Rees
“I’ve never seen tactics books organised in this way before - they are usually ‘here’s a bunch of pins’ - ‘here’s a bunch of forks’ - etc. But these books do it differently. They are organised by ‘piece patterns’ for a better way of putting it. As somebody who is precisely the target market for them, I think they are excellent - enjoyable and useful, and I think they would help many people like me (an adult learner who started playing chess a couple of years ago) who are trying to improve and enjoy the game even more.”
Forward Chess
“The book provides a good balance between verbal and analytical annotations. The author has managed to organise the patterns in a systematic way that enhances the learning process. The choice of good examples and clear commentary make this a fine book on an essential topic.”
